Structures that create freedom – central personnel services in the Abacus alpha portfolio
10. February 2026Abacus alpha takes over merlin.zwo and creates future security in the Oracle and AI environment
There are transactions that you make “on the side”. And there are decisions that are made early on, carefully and with people and technology in mind. This is exactly what merlin.zwo was all about. Abacus alpha has acquired 100 percent of the shares in merlin.zwo InfoDesign GmbH & Co KG from Karlsruhe in a succession arrangement based on partnership. The founders and managing directors Stefan Winkler (pictured right) and Jochen Kutscheruk (pictured left) will remain operationally involved and work with us to shape the generational transition at management level.

Continuity that you can feel
Anyone who knows merlin.zwo knows that quality is the focus here. And not as a promise, but as a lived standard in everyday project work. That is why the core element remains the same: Working methods, processes and professional responsibility are not “rearranged”, but continued. merlin.zwo has been on the market since 1998 and focuses on Oracle-based database solutions. Its core competencies include in particular
- Database administration with a focus on high availability and performance
- Individual software development
- AI-based solutions in the Oracle environment
For us, this combination is a strategic fit: it strengthens our digital expertise where it counts most for medium-sized organizations, in high-performance data infrastructures and in applications that generate real benefits.
Part of a structured development
For us, the investment in merlin.zwo is a further step in the structured development of expertise within the Abacus Group. This is not about quick leaps, but about building resilient skills that have a long-term effect: substance, stability and further developed technological expertise. For our portfolio strategy, this means that we are strengthening an area of expertise that is deeply rooted in technology within the Abacus Group in a targeted manner where it makes a lasting difference for medium-sized organizations. With merlin.zwo, we are further expanding our digital capabilities in the areas of data and AI and supporting the development of a sustainable digital expertise architecture within our network.
Our aim is to ensure that this expertise remains sustainable and supports the further development of data and AI in the Abacus Group in the long term.
