Franz Burghagen

After graduating from high school, Franz Burghagen began studying industrial engineering with a focus on mechanical engineering, which he interrupted in favor of a scholarship in the USA. There he devoted himself to competitive athletics before continuing his studies in economics.

After completing his MBA, Franz Burghagen worked in the United States for several years – first as an Institutional Client Services Support Analyst at McKinley Capital Management and later as a Project Management Consultant for a US bank. A few years ago, he returned to Germany and completed a Master’s degree in Applied Data Science at the Frankfurt School of Finance & Management. During this time, he gained practical experience at various companies, including KPMG’s Deal Advisory, KPMG’s Lighthouse and most recently at Lafayette Mittelstand Capital. These experiences made him enthusiastic about all aspects of private equity.

Franz Burghagen is an investment manager and in this role is responsible for the selection, evaluation and implementation of new investments. He accompanies companies through the entire transaction process – from analysis and negotiation to integration into the Abacus alpha Group.

As investment manager for our portfolio companies – currently ASB Rental Solutions GmbH, ASB Systembau Horst Babinsky GmbH, Autec Softwareentwicklung & Hardwareplanung GmbH, SMART PR GmbH and VinRoc Solutions GmbH – he is familiar with the challenges of the operating business of his investments and focuses his support on them. Through strategic advice and close cooperation, he helps to create stable structures, exploit growth opportunities and successfully shape long-term developments.
